The Power of Essential Oils

It is widely recognised that massage can be great for you!  However, did you know that its benefits can actually be heightened just by using essential oils?

At Creative Chiropractic we use products by Neal’s Yard Remedies, a British company specialising in all natural and organic skincare. Their products smell amazing and when used during these treatments, will help to moisturise the skin and make it suppler. More importantly, the essential oils are drawn into the body through the skin, circulating around the bloodstream and travelling to different organs or body systems. Many are highly antiseptic and can also stimulate the production of endorphins which have a pain-relieving and anti-depressant effect.

We have also developed our own 30-minute super boosting treatments to restore your body and enhance your wellbeing using some of the most popular essential oils.

The essential oils in these treatments can stimulate the production of several hormones in the body controlling our mood (for example: dopamine known as “the happy hormone”, serotonin “the calming hormone” and endorphins “the body’s natural pain relievers”). We’ve selected three of our favourite essential oils and outlined their properties and how they can benefit your mental health.

LAVENDER

Oil From: Flowering tops

Properties: pain-relieving, anti-depressant, antiseptic, anti-viral, decongestant, deodorant, sedative, infection fighting, lowers blood pressure, calms the nerves

This cleansing and refreshing oil is steam distilled from the flowers and leaves of French lavender. Naturally soothing, it’s calming for your body, mind and wellbeing.

Lavender increased slow-wave sleep, the very deep slumber in which the heartbeat slows and muscles relax. Sprinkle a few drops on a piece of tissue and tuck it under your pillow.
